WHAT WE BELEIVE
WHAT IS ECUMENISM?
Ecumenism is the movement to promote Christian unity, “bringing churches together in prayer, witness and service”, "so that the world may believe." (John 17:21) (sees World Council of Churches) The word ecumenism comes from the Greek word “oikoumenē” meaning “the whole inhabited world” and “house”. We believe God intends to reconcile all things to Godself through Christ Jesus (John 17:21, Colossians 1:17). We believe that God’s work is not only limited in Christianity but could also be found in this “whole inhabited world” where God’s presence has been dwelling since the beginning. Therefore, churches should engage in God’s ongoing mission of ending violence, discrimination, conflict, and injustice, and to promote love, inclusion, justice and peace. Churches, then, should be a place where all people are welcome, regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic statuses. Being ecumenical reminds us to respect and listen to those who are different from us, and to be a public witness for God’s love and goodness (Matthew 5:13-17).
WHY "HUB"?
A hub is a centre where activities take place. It is a place of network, allowing people with different backgrounds to connect. It is a place where ideas could be actualized, stories could be heard, and dreams could be shared. A hub is a place celebrating diversity and difference. We want to build a faith community that each person could find their own unique calling and mission in Christ. The fluidity of a hub reminds us that we are not building an institution, but a dynamic and flowing movement which brings impact and transformation to the society we are living in. A hub welcomes all to come, but yet, not reluctant to see people growing and leaving for their ongoing adventure. A hub is a place where each person could find a role and place to belong.
APOSTLES' CREED
I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
